Marble is originally from Springfield; one of his great-uncles, Lester Jones, was an airport director here in the early 1960s.
Marble said the new office initially will focus on the local airport project.
“We’re actually going to be in a building over on the airport property, and we’re expecting to have it open this month,” he said. “There will be three full-time local staff initially, but it’s also going to support other people with the company that are in other offices that are going to be working on this project as well.”
The project is designing a new $180.2 million airport terminal. Marble said design work is proceeding and RS&H will make a presentation to the airport board’s technical committee Feb. 11. The ideas will be presented to the full board at its March meeting.
RS&H’s budget for the project os $4.5 million.
Eventually, RS&H’s roster will include other clients and projects.
“Our immediate goal right now is just serving the airport project,” Marble said, “but as we can get some people on board and get the design … wrapped up, we are looking to branch out and hopefully hit other clients within Missouri and other states. This is going to be a permanent, long-term office here in Springfield and a regional office for RS&H in the central United States.”
RS&H performs architecture, engineering, planning and environmental science work.
The company has done road and bridge work projects, commercial and institutional architecture, and work for the aerospace and defense industries.
