Fortune 500 printing giant R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. plans to split into three publicly traded companies after acquisitions led to separate strategies for its main businesses.
The largest of the companies would operate the company's corporate communications outfit, which generated $7 billion in revenue for the 12 months ended June 30, according to Bloomberg.
The Chicago-based company also would create a business that combines its book and periodical publishing divisions, as well as a third business combining its Edgar Online, Bowne Financial and financial printing operations.
