Route 66 bill reintroduced in US House

A bill designed to revitalize and sustain Route 66 was reintroduced in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The legislation sponsored by Rep. Darin LaHood, R-Illinois, would create the Route 66 National Historic Trail Designation Act to promote and preserve the historic roadway. Previous iterations of the bill haved failed in Washington, D.C.

Advocates are pushing for Route 66 to become the next national historic trail before its centennial birthday in 2026.
