A Rountree breakfast cafe is relocating, but it's not going far.
Sleepy Opossum Cafe, currently operating at 1427 E. Cherry St., Ste. B, is planning a move in around a month to 1423 E. Cherry St., Ste. 101, according to a company Facebook post this week.
Sleepy Opossum Cafe, owned by Danielle Hunnell, is taking over the spot left vacant last year by Fleur Floral Studio LLC, which transitioned to a home-based venture. Fleur had operated in the roughly 1,200-square-foot space since early 2021.
Sleepy Opossum Cafe currently shares space with live music and bar venture The Royal in a 1,700-square-foot building that also houses Skully’s Ramen restaurant.
"It’s a bittersweet announcement because we have absolutely loved our time with (The Royal). We wouldn’t have been able to grow the way we have if it wasn't for them!" the Sleepy Opossum Cafe Facebook post reads. "But we are ready to fly the nest and are moving into the old (Fleur Floral Studio) building."
Sleepy Opossum Cafe, which started as Dani’s Flour Pot Bakery, opened its brick-and-mortar space in 2021 after launching as a food truck in 2019, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
