Rockaway Beach resident Lawrence Dillman caught a state-record striped bass last week at Bull Shoals Lake.
Dillman said it took him 45 minutes to reel in the 65-pound, 2-ounce fish, officially weighed by the Missouri Department of Conservation scale at the Shepherd of the Hills Hatchery, according to a Fox TV affiliate in St. Louis. The previous striped bass record, set in 2011, was a 60-pound, 9-ounce fish also caught at Bull Shoals Lake, by James Cunningham of Fordland.
Dillman said he plans to get his 49-and three-quarter inch fish mounted at Bass Pro Shops.
