Fifty-four barbecue teams from a six-state region competed this year, and about 24,000 people attended the 2008 event, which benefited seven local charities: Boys and Girls Town of Missouri; Ronald McDonald House Charities Tooth Truck; Boy Scouts of America Ozark Trails Council; Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks; Good Samaritan Boys Ranch; Ozarks Regional YMCA; and Developmental Center of the Ozarks.
