Supporters, area leaders and representatives of various political interests were on hand at Riverside Inn in Ozark for an Aug. 18 fund-raising dinner for Missouri Speaker of the House Jim Kreider (top left). Freshman representative John Bowman (above left) spoke in support of Kreider. Christian County Prosecutor Susan Spence reflected on her dual achievement as a woman and a Democrat in a position held by Republican men for about 60 years. Bee Payne Stewart was an attentive listener during the various speeches, and Springfield Mayor Tom Carlson was on hand with the Springfield contingent that included Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce President Jim Anderson, lobbyist Scott Marrs, Greene County Presiding Commissioner Dave Coonrod and City Utilities' Robert Roundtree and Karl Plumpe.
