Tulsa, Okla.-based Rib Crib on Friday moved a corporate-owned Springfield restaurant on West Sunshine Street just around the corner to a former Movie Gallery.
After contemplating a remodel at 425 W. Sunshine St., restaurant General Manager Mike Lock said the new site adjacent to a Price Cutter grocery store provides 40 more seats, a full-service bar, improved vehicle access and additional parking.
According to building permits on file with the city of Springfield, Rib Crib in January began the nearly 6,000-square-foot infill and remodeling project at 1720 S. Campbell Ave., Bldg. Y. The Russell Co., of Tulsa, Okla., served as general contractor, and the project had an estimated value of $144,585, according to Springfield Building Development Services.
The building is owned by 1720 S. Campbell LLC, which is organized by commercial property manager Curtis Jared of Jared Properties, according to public records. The property had a taxable appraised value of $317,000 as of Jan. 1, according to Greene County assessor records.
Rib Crib operates locations in eight states, from Iowa to New Mexico to Florida, according to RibCrib.com. Six of the nine Missouri stores are in the Springfield area, including one each in Branson, Marshfield and Ozark.
The Campbell Avenue restaurant seats 198 and employs about 60 people offering catering services and traditional Rib Crib eats such as ribs, brisket and pulled pork.
