CNNMoney reports 2017 was the toughest year yet for brick-and-mortar retailers.
During the year, store closing announcements more than tripled to about 7,000, a record, according to retail think tank Fung Global Retail and Technology.
BankruptcyData.com reports retail bankruptcy filings totaled 662 in 2017, a 30 percent increase from 2016.
