The Missouri Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions and Professional Registration announced in September that it is accepting electronic license applications from Missouri resident insurance producers, making Missouri one of only seven states currently participating in the resident program.
The process is administered through an effort with the National Insurance Producer Registry, a nonprofit affiliate of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
Through the program, insurance producers can log on to the NIPR Web site, www.licenseregistry.com, and complete one electronic application for all states in which they wish to apply for licensure.
“This process will benefit all insurance producers who conduct business in this state,” said DIFP Director Dale Finke in a news release. “I encourage all producers, especially those who reside in Missouri, to submit their license applications to the department online. This system eases regulatory burden and decreases the time it takes for producers to submit applications and receive approved licenses from the department.”
For nearly two years, the department has been accepting nonresident applications electronically, and it has been accepting nonresident renewals for more than a year.
The department also is working to implement procedures for electronic renewal for resident producers in the next few months.
With all of these electronic means in place, nearly 103,000 producers, both resident and nonresident, will be able to maintain licensure without filling out or mailing paperwork to the department.
“Not only does this help producers, but it helps all Missouri consumers,” Finke said. “The department will be able to re-allocate funds saved from these innovations to other areas of need without increasing the department’s budget.”[[In-content Ad]]
