Rachel Mitchell, who last week questioned Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's accuser Christine Blasey Ford, said she has a weak case.
Mitchell, who was hired by Senate Republicans to question Ford, said Sunday that Ford's allegations that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her would be "incredibly difficult to prove."
"Dr. Ford identified other witnesses to the event, and those witnesses either refuted her allegations or failed to corroborate them," Mitchell said. "I do not think that a reasonable prosecutor would bring this case based on the evidence before the committee. Nor do I believe that this evidence is sufficient to satisfy the preponderance-of-the-evidence standard."
The FBI, at the request of senators, is investigating the allegations against Kavanaugh.
