The White House yesterday hosted a delegation of 18 House Republicans, who are proposing a short-term increase to the debt ceiling, according to Fox News. The deal, however, would not fix the partial government shutdown.
Discussions between the two sides continued into the night Thursday after the meeting broke up with no deal announced, despite optimism earlier in the day that the two sides might agree, Fox News reported.
Republican lawmakers are reportedly heading back to the drawing board.
