As David Cameron, Republic city administrator since 2016, is soon to begin work as Springfield’s next city manager, his temporary replacement has been named.
In an email sent this morning from Republic Mayor Eric Franklin to city employees, Chief of Staff Lisa Addington was named as acting city administrator, effective immediately.
Chief Financial Officer Bob Ford and Karen Haynes, Community Development director, are designated, in that order of succession, to serve as acting city administrator in Addington’s absence.
A copy of the email was forwarded to Springfield Business Journal.
“These leaders bring a depth of knowledge, experience and commitment to the organization, and I have full confidence in their ability to guide our operations during this time of transition,” Franklin wrote.
In the letter, the mayor also recognized Cameron for his near decade of employment with the city.
“We are incredibly proud of his accomplishments and grateful for his dedicated service to the city of Republic,” Franklin wrote.
Cameron was approved May 27 to serve in the city of Springfield leadership role by a 5-4 vote, according to past SBJ reporting. Cameron previously told SBJ his last day working in the Republic office will be June 13 and his final official day on the job is July 5. He’s set to begin his new job July 7.
Addington said earlier this week the search for Cameron’s permanent replacement has no timeline.
“We are hopefully going to have something officially posted this week, and we will be using a third-party recruiter,” Addington said May 27.
When reached for comment this morning, Addington said via email that the city has “an incredible staff with heart and tremendous skill to serve our great community. We will continue on our same trajectory by aligning with our mission, vision and values.”
