Pearce served as Republic superintendent for six years, and earlier was assistant superintendent for seven years.
In a video message sent to district employees and families today, Pearce called it “an honor and a privilege” to work for the district. He added, “The growth that we’ve seen as a district, all the wonderful things that we’ve done, it has been absolutely humbling to be a part of that and something that has fulfilled my heart and provided me joy.”
Pearce said he expects to continue some form of work after retirement and remain active in the Republic community, with no official plans at this time, according to the release.
He called Overstreet “an incredible person and a great leader,” according to the release, saying, “I look forward to watching Republic Schools soar to new heights under his guidance and leadership.”
