Krischke begins in mid-September, replacing Dean Thompson, who left in March to succeed retired Karl Plumpe as economic development director at City Utilities of Springfield.
A nationwide search brought in 38 résumés for the Republic position; five finalists were named, and interviews were conducted July 19–20, city officials said.
Krischke comes from Hawthorn Woods, Ill., where he was village administrator for two years. He previously was village president for Lake Zurich, Ill., for eight years.
Krischke has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Roosevelt University and is on track to earn a master’s degree in public administration in December from Northern Illinois University.
Krischke’s starting salary will be $87,500.
