Republic chamber plans economic development workshop

The Republic Area Chamber of Commerce next week will hold a workshop called Fundamentals of Economic Development.

The Oct. 24 workshop, which runs 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. at the Republic Community Center, 711 E. Miller Road, is designed for professional economic developers and publicly elected officials and is patterned after the Heartland Basic Economic Development Course. It will cover presentations by officials with the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce, Missouri State University, Northeast Missouri Electric Power Cooperative and University of Missouri Extension. Topics include development principles and strategies, financing and incentive options, marketing and community involvement.
