Organizers of the sixth annual ROAR Business and Community Expo are planning for more than 5,000 people to show up.
Macy Mitchell, executive director of the Republic Area Chamber of Commerce, said the free event has expanded beyond businesses and nonprofits to offer activities for the entire family. ROAR stands for Republic open and ready.
The event is 3-7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1 at the Republic Community Center, 711 E. Miller Road.
“It's about bringing our community together, supporting local organizations, helping families prepare for the school year, and creating opportunities for businesses and residents to connect in a fun, welcoming environment,” Mitchell said in a news release. “Every year the event continues to grow, and we believe this year's expo will be the biggest yet.”
In an interview, Mitchell said more than 100 businesses will be involved, and the goal is to give back to local residents and help parents and students prepare for the 2026-27 school year.
“It’s a one-stop shop,” he said.
Mitchell said new features this year include an expanded outdoor and indoor market with an open format, allowing visitors to explore at their own pace.
There are free haircuts for children and school supplies. Live music, a petting zoo and a kid zone with bounce houses are planned. Food trucks will be available along with a sampling of local food.
Mitchell said attendees who go through the expo can access the Rush Aquatic Center at no cost.
