The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration will reclassify marijuana as a less dangerous drug, people familiar with the matter told The Associated Press.
The proposal would recognize the medical uses of cannabis and acknowledge it has less potential for abuse than other drugs.
Under the proposal, marijuana would move to a Schedule III drug alongside ketamine and some anabolic steroids. It's currently a Schedule I drug along with heroin and LSD.
