Newly released government emails show it took about 90 minutes for the Pentagon to block aid to Ukraine after President Donald Trump's infamous July phone call to Volodymyr Zelenskiy, the country's president.
The Guardian reports the emails may confirm aid was held up after Trump asked Zelenskiy to "do us a favor." A whistleblower who heard details about the call triggered the impeachment inquiry over whether Trump tried to pressure Ukraine to investigate his political rivals, specifically Joe Biden, in return for military assistance.
Lawmakers now are calling for the author of the reported emails, Mike Duffey, associate director for national security programs at the Office of Budget Management, to testify in the impeachment proceedings.
