Uber Technologies Inc. is buying Dubai-based rival Careem Networks FZ for $3.1 billion, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg.
The purchase comprises $1.4 billion in cash and $1.7 billion in convertible notes, according to the sources.
The acquisition plans come ahead of Uber's initial public offering scheduled for April.
