ByteDance Ltd., the parent company of TikTok, is in discussions with the U.S. government to avoid a full sale of its American operations, people familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal.
The deadline set by President Donald Trump for a sale is fast approaching. Trump ordered China-based ByteDance to sell its U.S. TikTok operations or face a ban.
The Chinese government since has taken steps to curtail a sale. Companies including Microsoft and Oracle have been among those interested.
