TechCrunch obtained leaked audio of a phone call in which T-Mobile Vice President James Kirby told hundreds of Sprint employees they were being laid off.
The cuts come two months after T-Mobile's $26 billion merger with Sprint was finalized.
On the call, Kirby told employees the layoffs would make way for 200 new positions. He encouraged the employees to apply for those jobs.
A person on the call told TechCrunch that around 400 people were listening in to the phone meeting. Kirby on the call said T-Mobile was eliminating Sprint’s sales division that focuses on U.S. small businesses.
