Report: Meta paid GOP firm to harm TikTok's reputation

Facebook parent company Meta has paid one of the largest Republican consulting firms to run a nationwide campaign seeking to harm TikTok's reputation, The Washington Post reports.

The report cites internal emails showing Meta hired Targeted Victory to run a campaign that includes op-eds and letters to the editor in major regional news outlets and pushing to draw politicians to the cause.

Defending the campaign, Meta spokesperson Andy Stone said, "We believe all platforms, including TikTok, should face a level of scrutiny consistent with their growing success.”
