Department store Kohl's Corp. received a $9 billion buyout bid, people familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal.
A consortium backed by activist hedge fund Starboard Value LP submitted the bid, the sources said.
Some shareholders recently have called on Kohl's to explore a sale.
