Report: Japan's SoftBank in talks to buy DreamWorks

Japan's SoftBank Corp. is in talks to acquire DreamWorks Animation, the Hollywood studio behind the "Shrek" and "Madagascar" movie hits, a person with knowledge of the situation told the Hollywood Reporter.

According to the report, the company would be valued at $3.4 billion.

Dreamworks founder and CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg would sign a five-year contract to remain with the company, the source said.
