Report: Hasbro in early talks to buy DreamWorks

Hasbro Inc. is in early talks to buy DreamWorks Animation SKG, in a deal that would bring an animation studio that just recently began diversifying beyond the big screen under the fold of a major toy maker, people familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal.

The combination is expected to allow both companies to move beyond their core businesses.

In recent years, DreamWorks has expanded into consumer products, and Hasbro recently launched its own film label, Allspark Pictures.
