Greenhouse gas levels hit a record last year, according to a report from the United Nations' World Meteorological Organization.
The report shows carbon dioxide levels surged to 413.2 parts per million in 2020. That's an increase that tops the average rate over the last decade, despite a temporary emission dip amid COVID-19 lockdowns.
"We are way off track," WMO Secretary-General Petteri Taalas said. "We need to revisit our industrial, energy and transport systems and whole way of life."
