Greene and Christian counties rank in the top 10 statewide of the most generous counties, according to a report from financial data tracking firm SmartAsset.
Greene County is No. 6 on the list, with Christian County at No. 9 in Missouri, according to the report. SmartAsset analyzed how much money residents donate as a percentage of their net income, as well as the proportion of residents who make charitable donations.
In Greene County, contributions as a percentage of income are 1.8%, and the percentage of tax returns itemizing charitable contributions is 5.1%.
Christian County's levels are 1.5% in contributions as a percentage of income and 6% in percentage of tax returns itemizing charitable contributions, according to the report.
No. 1 in Missouri is Stoddard County, in the southeast corner of the state. Its figures are 3.1% for contributions as a percentage of income and 3.4% for percentage of returns itemizing charitable contributions.
The No. 1 spot in the nation belongs to Benton County, Arkansas, where contributions as a percentage of income are 11.3% and the percentage of returns itemizing charitable contributions are 9.1%, according to the report.
