Report: FTC investigating YouTube

The Federal Trade Commission is investigating YouTube for its handling of videos targeted toward children, people familiar with the matter told The New York Times.

Parents and consumer groups have complained YouTube has collected data from its young users and has allowed harmful and adult content to show up in searches for children's content.

The investigation could result in fines against YouTube, which is owned by Google.
