Such a change would reflect the social media company's focus on building the metaverse, an online world where people can game, work and communicate in a virtual environment.
The report indicates a change would reflect the parent company's name, with the Facebook app maintaining its branding along with Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus and other business units.
