The pilot of the Ethiopian Airlines jet that crashed did not train in a simulation designed to teach pilots how to fly the new Boeing 737 Max 8, people familiar with the matter told The New York Times.
The simulator was up and running two months before the jet crashed, the sources said.
Boeing has said experienced 737 pilots needed little training for the Max 8. That assertion is now being heavily scrutinized.
It's unclear if the co-pilot of the Ethiopian Airlines jet underwent Max 8 training.
