Equifax Inc. is nearing a deal to pay $700 million to resolve data breach investigations, people familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal.
The settlement involves a 2017 data breach that exposed Social Security numbers and other personal information of nearly 150 million Americans.
The settlement with the Federal Trade Commission, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and most state attorneys general could be announced as soon as today.
