The 98-year-old creator of Springfield-style cashew chicken was robbed on Monday, the manager of his restaurant told the Springfield News-Leader.
The manager said David Leong was driving home when a pedestrian waved him down.
Saying he was out of gas, the pedestrian reportedly asked Leong for $5. When Leong pulled out his wallet, the pedestrian is said to have yanked him out of the vehicle and stole his wallet.
Springfield Police spokeswoman Jasmine Bailey told the News-Leader no arrests had been made as of yesterday afternoon.
