Colonial Pipeline paid hackers nearly $5 million worth of bitcoin in ransom, sources familiar with the matter told The New York Times.
Hacking group DarkSide carried out the ransomware attack, which led to Colonial shutting down its critical fuel pipeline on the East Coast.
The company yesterday announced it had resumed service of the 5,500-mile pipeline.
