Report: AT&T considers parting ways with DirecTV

AT&T is considering parting with its DirecTV unit, people familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal.

Such a move may involve spinning DirecTV into a separate public company and combining its assets with rival Dish Network Corp., the sources said.

AT&T bought DirecTV for $49 billion in 2015.

AT&T has been accused of allegedly inflating subscriber numbers for its DirecTV Now streaming service.
