Report: Apple delays reveal of streaming service

The next Apple TV is here, but other anticipated services are on temporary hold from the California tech giant.

USA Today reports Apple will unveil the next version of its Apple TV set-top box at a Sept. 9 event, which will likely also showcase the next iPhone. However, Apple will postpone an announcement of a live TV streaming service as it continues to negotiate licensing deals.

Circulated reports claim Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: APPL) still is trying to secure programming and may lack computer network capacity to ensure a good viewing experience.

According to USA Today, rumors of a new-and-improved Apple TV have swirled for months, claiming the new Apple TV would include a faster processor, overhauled operating system and support for digital voice assistant Siri.

The new service likely won’t debut until 2016.
