Report: Andrew Bailey's campaign receives $50K donation after siding with Doe Run

Posted online

State Attorney General Andrew Bailey's campaign has received a $50,000 contribution from Doe Run’s parent company after he filed a legal brief siding with the company, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Bailey's office in July filed an amicus brief arguing that Peru was the proper venue for a lawsuit filed by Peruvian plaintiffs. That mirrored the company's arguments in the case, which is related to a Doe Run smelting complex purchased in Peru in 1997. The case involves alleged lead poisoning of children in La Oroya.

Bailey’s Liberty and Justice PAC received $50,000 from Doe Run’s parent company, New York City-based Renco Group, last month, the Post-Dispatch reports. Doe Run is based in St. Louis.
