Citing a Climate Accountability Institute analysis, The Guardian published a report of the 20 fossil fuel companies responsible for a third of the world's carbon emissions.
State-owned Saudi Aramco topped the list, followed by Chevron, the No. 1 investor-owned corporation on the list.
Exxon, BP and Shell also were among investor-owned corporations on the list.
