A $1.2 million renovation of South Jefferson Avenue’s historic Wilshire building into condominiums is nearing completion, and a model unit is ready for public viewing.

Casey Development Co. began work on the 1919-built Wilshire, 520 S. Jefferson Ave., in March and expects to wrap up construction in early August, according to a news release. Recently listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the building will feature six 1,400-square-foot condominiums, each with two bedrooms and two full bathrooms.

The three-story Wilshire’s exterior has been relatively unchanged, with a brick arched entry, recessed corner balconies for each unit and all-brick walls with limestone accents, according to the release.

Each unit has granite-slab countertops and stainless-steel appliances, the release said.

A model unit will be open for public tours 12–4 p.m. July 12–13, as well as by appointment.
