Regulatory board seeks small-business testimony

Posted online
Missouri small-business owners who want to comment on state agency rules and regulations will have the chance to do so this summer.

The Small Business Regulatory Fairness Board will hold a public hearing 1–4 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, 911 Main St. in Kansas City.

The board is inviting small-business owners to present oral or written testimony on how state rules and regulations affect their operations.

According to a news release from the Missouri Department of Economic Development, anyone who wishes to provide oral testimony must register by April 30. Registration forms are available at www.sbrfb.ded.mo.gov or by calling (866) 719-1401.

Testimony will be limited to five minutes, and openings for oral presentations will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Walk-in testimony will be allowed if time permits.

Written testimony should be sent to Small Business Regulatory Fairness Board, Missouri DED, PO Box 118, Jefferson City, MO 65102 or e-mailed to SBRFB@ded.mo.gov, no later than April 30.

This will be the fourth hearing for the board, which was created in 2005 to look at the impact on small businesses when state regulations are created and enforced. Hearings are scheduled periodically in regions of the state that small-business comments originate. A Springfield hearing was held in October.
