Reeds Spring man to direct state DNR

Posted online
Gov. Blunt Jan. 25 nominated Doyle Childers of Reeds Spring to serve as director of Missouri’s Department of Natural Resources. If confirmed by the Senate, Childers will replace former director Steve Mahfood in one of several leadership changes in the department.

Childers, 60, has served 20 years in the state legislature, most prominently on the Senate’s Agriculture, Conservation, Parks and Tourism Committee. More recently, Childers served on a DNR advisory committee. Childers earned his bachelor’s degree at the College of the Ozarks and his master’s degree at Southwest Missouri State University.
