Project description: Springfield Public Schools is building Reed Academy’s new facility on its original site, preserving a century-long neighborhood connection. That connection is reiterated in the building’s design, which reuses salvaged materials, like auditorium wood flooring to be used in ceiling features, stone relief sculptures being relocated to the new school commons and a wood-framed entry-turned-display case for additional artifacts. The project, funded through a voter-approved bond, is designed by Sapp Design Associates Architects Inc. Engineers are Olsson Inc., civil and landscape; Toth and Associates Inc., structural; and Interpres Building Solutions LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
