The American Red Cross presented its Everyday Heroes Breakfast March 19, honoring local heroes for their spirit of humanitarianism. At left, Cheryl Searcy, executive director of the American Red Cross Greater Ozarks Chapter congratulates 7-year-old Heather Wooten, Youth Good Samaritan Hero. Wooten donated her waist-length, curly hair for the Locks of Love program, which turns donated human hair into wigs for cancer patients. At center, Jessica Arnold, Youth Lifesaver Hero, embraces neighbor Lee Asbell, whom she rescued when he became trapped under his tractor. Arnold heard Asbell's cries for help from almost half a mile away, and followed those cries through yards, fence, pasture and trees to come to his aid. At right, Red Cross volunteer and Everyday Heroes committee member Judy Weekley helps out with the award presentations during the breakfast. Twenty awards were presented during the event, recognizing heroes in all walks of life.
