With the start of the new year, recreational marijuana became legal in California.
Some 90 retailers, largely concentrated in San Diego, Santa Cruz, the San Francisco area and Palm Springs, received licenses to open on New Year's Day.
Californians voted to approve legal marijuana in 2016. The rule allows sales to anyone 21 and older at licensed shops.
