Record number of people became billionaires in 2015

The billionaire population grew by 6.4 percent in 2015 and now stands at a record 2,473, according to Wealth X’s annual Billionaire Census.

Those who have partially inherited their wealth are the fastest-growing segment of the population.

According to Wealth X, 140 of the 148 new billionaires were men. Also, male billionaires overall hold 88.6 percent of total wealth.
