More Americans than ever before are turning their backs on the United States.
According to a CNNMoney analysis, the number of citizens and long-term residents who cut ties to the country jumped over 20 percent to 4,279 in 2015.
According to the report, many are severing ties because they're tired of dealing with complicated tax paperwork. The U.S. taxes all citizens on their income, no matter where it's earned or where they live.
last year, 18 times as many Americans renounced their citizenship or long-term residency compared with 2008. That's the third record-breaking year in a row.
