The auction will be held 6–8 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Clarion Hotel & Convention Center, 3333 S. Glenstone. Tickets are $15 for the dinner and auction, or $5 for just the auction, and must be purchased by Oct. 21 at the GSBOR office, 1310 E. Primrose St.
Since 1993, Realtors Helping People has provided emergency home repairs for needy people in conjunction with Council of Churches of the Ozarks’ Connections Handyman Services. The organization is funded by the annual auction, private contributions and community grants.
Work provided includes roof, furnace and water heater repairs for disabled and elderly low-income people.
“There is a huge need for the services that Realtors Helping People provides, especially after last winter’s ice storm,” said Kirk Hewitt, president of Realtors Helping People and a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Vanguard Realtors, in a news release. “Government aid to low-income homeowners has dropped off dramatically while income has not sufficiently increased.”
Proceeds raised by the auction will be used in Greene, Christian and Webster counties, Hewitt said.
Hundreds of items will be available in live and silent auctions. Items include gift certificates and home décor items, and local businesses will have booths at the event.
