Rams exit affects state coffers

Posted online
The Rams’ exit to Los Angeles from St. Louis comes with a price tag in the form of a $10 million hit to the state budget.

Documents released from Gov. Jay Nixon’s budget office yesterday outlining the fiscal year budget that will go into effect July 1 show the loss comes from an athletes’ and entertainers’ tax, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

According to state officials, the budget decrease will not affect the state’s payment toward debt service or the $12 million needed in upkeep for the Edward Jones Dome.
