In 2013, an estimated three million overnight visitors came to Springfield for business and recreation. According to the Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau, last year was the second best year on record for the city’s hotels and 2014 is starting strong. Compared to the same period in 2012, room demand increased 3.8 percent and room sales were up 7.9 percent. One area hotel that is stepping up to meet the needs of both the tourist and business traveler is the Ramada Plaza Hotel & Oasis Convention Center.

The hotel has been named a Best of the Best Award Winner by Wyndham Hotels Worldwide for the past three years, and received the 2012 Wyndham Worldwide Sales Team of the Year honor as well as a 2013 Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor.

Recently completing a comprehensive remodeling project, Ramada’s rooms have all been updated, and remodeled suites now include two bi-level suites and three executive suites, all featuring top of the line amenities. The hotel also has an indoor saltwater pool and hot tub nestled in a tropical atrium, an outdoor heated saltwater pool, a fitness room, spa services, a business center, a 24-hour gift shop, and complimentary airport shuttle service.

"Anyone in need of a hotel with comfortable accommodations, full-service high-end amenities and flexible meeting space needs to start here,” General Manager Missy Handyside said. “We can host everything from weddings to corporate events and conventions, and we have a professional staff in place to ensure their event is a huge success.”

Regardless of the size of the event, Handyside is confident that the hotel can host it. With over 30,000 square feet of convention/meeting space, the Ramada’s Oasis Convention Center features a built in stage with theatrical lighting, state of the art audio/visual, built-in screens, wireless Internet, and meeting rooms that can comfortably accommodate 10-1,500 guests.

“With everything from built in LCD projectors and screens to a sound board, lighting and camera capabilities, chances are good we have on-site what someone may need for their event,” Handyside said. “We work hard to accommodate our event planners from the initial concept through the completion of their event.”

The top-of-the-line amenities and staffing at Ramada are not something only event planners and guests enjoy, Fire & Ice, the hotel’s restaurant and bar, has become a popular local destination. With a wide array of creative menu selections and a unique atmosphere, the restaurant has become a go-to spot for date night, dinner with friends, or late-night drinks for many in the area.

“Business travelers, sports teams, event guests, and weekend diners can always expect excellent service,” Handyside said. “It doesn’t matter if it’s an event for 1,500 or dinner for two, we have high standards and our staff consistently goes above and beyond.”
