Rainbow Network issues challenge grant

Posted online
One of the supporters of a local nonprofit organization is hoping the community will come through with financial donations before the end of the year - and he's putting his money where his mouth is.

Dean Hollis, a partner with the Springfield-based Rainbow Network, issued a challenge through a Monday news release. He's hoping to raise $5,000 through community donations in the last 10 days of 2009, and Hollis will match the total raised dollar for dollar.

The organization says that a $10,000 contribution will enable Rainbow Network to provide 100,000 meals to hungry and malnourished children living in the areas in Central America served by the network.

Those interested in contributing can call Rainbow Network at (417) 889-8088 or visit the organization Web site at the link below.

The Rainbow Network serves the rural poor of Nicaragua with housing, health care, education, microloans and sustainable agriculture.
